About Drupal

Drupal (http://drupal.org) is a Free and Open Source Content Management System & Web Development Framework. It has been adopted by thousands of diverse organizations including The White House, Sony BMG, Adobe, Sun Microsystems, NASA, and The United Nations, as well as thousands of sites in the publishing, community and university areas (and many more). Dries Buytaert, Drupal's Project Lead, keeps a list of high profile sites, which can be found at http://buytaert.net/tag/drupal-sites.

Drupal's biggest strength is the large and growing community of developers, organizers, and platform evangelists that are devoted to it. The software received a big boost from the Howard Dean presidential campaign as large groups of young organizers looked for cheap ways to collaborate, communicate, and organize. The campaign itself was short lived, but it gave birth to organizations like Music for America (where Alex got started in both politics and Drupal) and CivicSpace, as well as many other companies, including this one.

The fact that Drupal was built by organizers has been a key strength for the platform, as it has helped keep the community organized, focused, and growing at an amazing rate. Zivtech now enjoys working as part of a team of tens-of-thousands of developers worldwide, who continuously build and improve upon the platform. Thousands of organizations and companies are deeply invested in the future of Drupal, and every user of the software benefits as a result. The project has thousands of free contributed modules which enable organizations to have a huge number of Web 2.0 functions. It also has a powerful development framework, which allows practically all of its functionality to be customized, altered, or built upon.
